2,176 new cases reported today, third time figures dip below 3,000 mark this month | Daily Express Online

This is the third time that there have been fewer than 3,000 cases this month, with 2,464 cases reported on Sunday and 2,764 on Feb 9.  He said the latest development took the total number of infections in the country to 266,445 cases, with 47,135 of them being active cases. ADVERTISEMENT “Of the new infections, 2,175 cases were local transmissions involving 1,618 Malaysians and 557 foreigners while the sole imported case involved a Malaysian infected abroad,” he said in a statement on COVID-19 today.

In a tweet, the ministry said there were 1,006 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 109,115. The total number of infections now stands at 138,224. ADVERTISEMENT There are 28,554 active cases with 187 patients being treated in intensive care and 87 requiring respiratory assistance. Meanwhile, the four deaths brings the total number of fatalities to 555. The latest fatalities involve two men and two women, aged between 47 and 56. Three were Malaysians, all from Selangor, while the foreigner was from Sabah.

Covid-19: 2,232 new infections push active cases closer to 30,000,

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia has drawn closer to 30,000 after 2,232 new cases were reported today, with Selangor still leading in daily figures, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said Selangor reported 557 new cases (25 per cent of daily total), with 404 cases (72.5 per cent) from clusters and screening of close contacts in the field. “This is followed by Johor with 396 cases (17.7 per cent) and Sabah with 374 cases (16.8 per cent). “The new cases today have pushed the cumulative figure for Covid-19 positive cases in Malaysia to 138,224, while the total number for active cases is 28,554,” he said in a statement today.
