March 2020 â In the early days, it was a moment in time before terms like âsocial distancingâ and âmasking upâ werenât second-nature to many Texans. As innocent as it was for people to combat the virus with violent hand-washing and refraining to touch oneâs face, the the reality of COVID-19 would create major changes in the coming weeks.
According to previous reports, on March 5, 2020, there were only four confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the state of Texas. At that point, concerns tied to the virus in the Coastal Bend were far and few between.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â When wintry weather forced the closure of the icy JFK Causeway, it left North Padre Island residents and businesses without a quick means of obtaining meaningful amounts of food.
Disruptions to power and water services this week only complicated the matter.
But two restaurants were able to continue operating, providing more than just meals to a weather-weary community. We want to make sure people have food and water and a way to get out of the house at least, Padre Poke owner Jessica Chappell said.
