Ballymahon and Granard saddened by death of much-loved teacher Mary Wynne

It was with deep regret that we learned of the death on Wednesday, April 21 of Mrs Mary Wynne (nee O’Neill), Drynan, Ballymahon.
Predeceased by her grandson Luke, her brother Fr Patrick and sister Sr Helen, the late Mary was a proud Co Clare woman. She was born in 1932 and following her schooling in Mountmellick trained to be a domestic science teacher where she started in Galway.
She met her future husband Garda Bill Wynne at a dance in Gort. Herself and Bill would have been married 55 years this year. He was stationed in Aughnacliffe before moving to Ballymahon where he was stationed for a long number of years and was a very popular member of the force with both the public and his work colleagues.

After a short illness, the sudden death occurred on Saturday, February 13 of 85 year old Peter Lynn, Lynn Cottage, Ballymulvey, Ballymahon.
Peter was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia, his parents Peter and Christina, his brother Joseph and sister Annette.
Peter was born and reared in Ballymahon, leaving at the age of 18 to seek his fortune in the UK where he met his wife Patricia and married in 1956.
They went on to raise a family there and Peter had become heavily involved in his local community becoming an active member of the Civil Defence, local soccer teams and a fundraiser for Leukaemia Research Fund where he made his debut as Santy for them.
