(Image: Greater Manchester Police) POLICE caught a driver going at more than three times the speed limit near Altrincham yesterday. GMP s traffic officers were making speed checks on Paddock Lane, where the speed limit is 30mph. They stopped several drivers for speeding, including one going at 92mph, and another going at 58mph. All of the drivers were reported, and police took the chance to remind others on social media of the importance of respecting the speed limit. A post on Wednesday morning said: Yesterday, traffic officers were conducting speed enforcement on Paddock Lane (30mph) in Altrincham. Several vehicles stopped at varying speeds, including one vehicle travelling at 92mph!

1:04 a.m. A caller from Relief Hill Road reported hearing numerous shotgun blasts in the area, though it was not clear exactly where the gunfire had come from. The caller said they believed that the shots may have been associated with a vehicle that had just pulled onto the road and was across the street.
3:17 a.m. A caller from Lake Wildwood Drive, near Cottontail Way, reported a woman who was looking through the caller’s windows and acting suspiciously. The caller asked the woman to leave, and also stated that this individual resembled the description of a woman who had been identified as stealing catalytic converters.
Man dies after fall from Walsall tower block
West Midlands Police said they were not treating the death of the man, aged in his 40s, as suspicious.

A man has died after falling from a block of flats in Walsall. The man, aged in his 40s, is thought to have fallen from Millsum House - a 13-storey high-rise in Chuckery.
A police cordon surrounded the flats on Sunday, and a blue forensic tent was in place at the base of the tower on Paddock Lane, off Union Street.

A walker discovered the Labrador on Paddock Lane in Warburton, 200 metres away from The Saracens Head. She had burns in her mouth and around her head and neck. The incident was reported on Monday, January 25, but it is believed the body had been in the area since January 22. Vets at Greater Manchester Animal Hospital found ‘no obvious cause of death’, and it is not known if the puppy suffered her injuries before or after death. A microchip was found and traced back to Ireland. But this only revealed the dog was Pup 7 . Animal rescuers fear that ‘unscrupulous’ breeders may be to blame, and have released images of the puppy in the hope that members of the public with information will come forward.
