India News: KOLKATA: Voting for the Dhupguri bypoll in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal is being held with a total of 2,69,416 voters exercising their franc.
“At the moment, polling is absolutely peaceful. Tight security measures are in place and there is an adequate number of forces,” the Election Commission official told PTI. Long queues of voters were seen outside various polling stations across the constituency.

Kolkata/IBNS: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has suffered a series of setbacks over the last few years in the West Bengal politics, will face a litmus test in a triangular contest in the Dhupguri byelections which are held on Tuesday.
The Dhupguri bypoll in West Bengal is currently taking place with over 2,69,416 voters participating. The election is a three-way contest between the ruling Trinamool Congress, the BJP, and the CPI(M) backed by the Congress. The seat became vacant after BJP s Bishnu Pada Ray s death in July. The TMC has fielded a local professor, the BJP has chosen a widow of a CRPF jawan, and the CPI(M) has selected a famous folk artist as their candidates. The constituency has a significant agricultural population with Rajbanshi and Matua caste groups.
