The Dhupguri bypoll in West Bengal is currently taking place with over 2,69,416 voters participating. The election is a three-way contest between the ruling Trinamool Congress, the BJP, and the CPI(M) backed by the Congress. The seat became vacant after BJP's Bishnu Pada Ray's death in July. The TMC has fielded a local professor, the BJP has chosen a widow of a CRPF jawan, and the CPI(M) has selected a famous folk artist as their candidates. The constituency has a significant agricultural population with Rajbanshi and Matua caste groups.
