iPad Camera Multitasking
A few months back I was surprised to see that Zoom had somehow been able to tap into using the camera during iPad Split View multitasking. This is an obvious feature for a videoconferencing app so that you can keep one eye on your meeting while you consult notes, look at a presentation, or slack off on Twitter.
I scoured the web and found no reference to how to enable this feature for our own iOS Zoom client, Participant for Zoom. We asked Zoom and to our surprise they gave us the answer, and in the process revealed an apparently private process, available only to those deemed worthy by Apple.

If you need to quickly take a photo or video on your iPhone, you can swipe into the Camera app in a jiffy without unlocking your phone. Here’s how to do it.
First, wake your iPhone. Place your finger anywhere on the lock screen and swipe it to the left until the Camera app appears. (You can’t swipe on a notification, however. That will reveal options for the notification rather than for opening the Camera app.)
With the Camera app onscreen, you can take photos or videos as you normally would, and they will be saved automatically to your Photos library. You can even use the volume buttons to trigger the shutter if you’d like.

The Secret Is “Screen Time”
Every iPhone or iPad includes a special feature called Screen Time that can either be used to track and limit your own app usage or as parental control settings for kids who might use the device. In our case, we’ll be using Screen Time to limit access to the Camera app, which will also remove the camera swipe shortcut from the iPhone and iPad lock screen.
