A judge on Wednesday imposed 10 life sentences, plus 260 years, on the Islamic terrorist who drove a truck onto a Manhattan bike path in 2017, killing eight people and severely.
Prosecutors urged Judge Vernon S. Broderick to impose a sentence of eight consecutive life sentences one for each death and an additional 260 years in prison, according to a presentence submission.
Sayfullo Saipov s sentence on Wednesday came after a jury in March rejected the death penalty for the Uzbekistan citizen and onetime New Jersey resident.
