PDEA, AMLC serve freeze order on property, bank accounts of Cebu City couple linked to a drug syndicate

Published February 16, 2021, 3:30 PM Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) have enforced a freeze order on the property and bank accounts of a couple in Cebu City tagged as involved in the illegal activities of the “Kuratong Baleleng Drug Group’’. PDEA Director-General Wilkins Villanueva said they were able to secure a freeze order from the Court of Appeals (CA) after the investigation they conducted revealed that couple Artemio and Daisy Salas had a numerous bank account transactions which were not commensurate to their declared sources of income. The dalisay couple both have standing warrants of arrest.

The order covers a house allegedly worth ₱5 million owned by Artemio and Daisy Parojinog-Salas, who both have pending arrest warrants. Daisy Parojinog-Salas is the sister of Reynaldo Parojinog, who was killed in a police raid in July 2017 in Ozamis City. The Parojinog clan is accused of being involved in the illegal drug trade. Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Wilkins Villanueva, along with officials from the Anti-Money Laundering Council, personally went to the high-end subdivision in Nichol s Park, Guadalupe to implement the order.

MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO In a privilege speech, Deputy Speaker Henry Oaminal (NUP, Misamis Occidental) chided Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta (SAGIP Partylist) for allegedly “lawyering” for a Ozamis City family that have blocked the implementation of a housing project jointly initiated by the city government and the Department of Public Workss. Oaminal’s Monday tirade was his retaliation to Marcoleta’s call last week to have him investigated by the Committee on Ethics for alleged involvement in an illegal demolition in his district last year. In his privilege speech last week, Marcoleta said Oaminal and his son, Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal, stood to gain personally from the multi-million peso housing project that will, however, displace a family who have legal title to a property where their house stands.
