Walking routes to enjoy without breaking lockdown rules in and around Watford Daily exercise is more important than ever as we all learn to cope with life in lockdown number three. Whether it s a new priority to get out and move your body, be it because of working from home and being sat down all day or escaping the house for a moment alone, away from home schooling - exercise has become our solace. The benefits of being active far exceed just the physical changes your body may see. The emotional benefits of getting outside in the fresh air and enjoying some gentle exercise can make a huge difference to our mental health, especially for people who suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD) in the winter months.
Darker shaded areas are where there are more cases. Credit: UK Government Covid Dashboard Map The number of new coronavirus cases in south west Hertfordshire does not appear to be spiralling out of control – but data shows little sign of the virus tailing off either. Hertfordshire recorded just over 1,100 new cases on Monday s government Covid dashboard, with the most cases being reported in Broxbourne (152) followed by St Albans with 143, Welwyn Hatfield (127) Watford (114) Dacorum (112) and Hertsmere (111). The dashboard also shows more than 6,500 Hertfordshire residents have tested positive for Covid since the county went into Tier 4 on December 20. Many of these people will have been infected before Tier 4 was announced, and the coming days’ data will tell us how much of an impact Tier 4 measures have had on bringing levels of the virus down.
Watford is seeing high levels of coronavirus infections as more wards record over 30 cases during a week. Covid-19 infections are also very high in Bushey, with a Government map showing that cases increased in the area during a seven-day period. A rise of cases saw Watford, Hertsmere, Three Rivers and Broxbourne placed in Tier 3 on Wednesday. The rest of Hertfordshire - St Albans, Stevenage, North Herts, East Herts, Welwyn Hatfield and Dacorum - will all move to the toughest measures at 12.01am on Saturday. Speaking to Watford Mayor Peter Taylor in a Facebook live video today (December 18), Hertfordshire’s director of public health urged residents to follow coronavirus rules.
