Learn how to save food in Food Waste Action Week

Oxfordshire County Council is supporting national campaign Food Waste Action Week. Throughout the week, there will be tips on making the most of your leftovers, storing food properly, how to shop more effectively by planning your meals, plus the chance to win gadgets that will help you reduce your food waste. Information will be shared all week on the council’s social media channels on Facebook and Twitter and people are encouraged to use the hashtag #foodwasteactionweek. Councillor Yvonne Constance, Oxfordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “There really is no downside when it comes to reducing food waste. It saves families money, reduces the amount of rubbish that ends up in our bins to be disposed of, and is the environmentally friendly option. The Food Waste Action Week campaign will highlight small changes we can all make to minimise the amount of food we throw away each week.”

CPZs are already in place in 37 parts of Oxford, while CPZs for nine other areas have already been approved or have funding in place. Yvonne Constance, Oxfordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: “CPZs are already reducing commuter parking in residential streets across the city. With our plan to introduce congestion management and a Workplace Parking Levy in the near future, residents’ parking will become even more important – which is why we are taking this proactive approach to stop overspill parking on residential streets.
