The Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) has launched a formal probe into evidence that the transgender population has been ‘substantially’ overestimated in the 2021 census.
The Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) said it was reviewing findings from the ONS suggesting that there are 262,000 transgender people in England and Wales.
Carl Heneghan (pictured), director of Oxford University s Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, said the ONS findings could be biased because it does not do fieldwork to test their validity.
