Internship stints offer students experience and training
BENGALURU: The two-year BEd programme offered by universities in the state mandates a two-month internship in schools (from kindergarten to class 10) for third semester students, but with schools closed those taking the course are in a quandary. The internship provides handson experience and training.
“BEd students have to teach classes 8-10,” said Arundhati N, principal, Oxford College of Education. “If these classes do not reopen by the middle of January or if there are not enough students, we will have to conduct classes on our campuses with their own peers. We discussed the issue at a meeting at Bengaluru City University and we realised it’s not possible to postpone it to the next semester. We have to find other solutions.”
