It s a thing of childhood dreams: a giant monster truck track, and it’s recently opened in Queenstown. Oxbow Adventure Company is the kind of place racing legend Greg Murphy loves; I spotted him there when we pulled up.

The Oxbow has been especially designed for the course. The hilly desert-like landscape in Gibbston Valley almost reminded me of Utah, but my thoughts were quickly distracted by a giant buggy flying up the side of a hill. It s called an Oxbow, and you will hear it before you see it. The custom-made buggies were designed by national off-road champion Dan Cowper, and includes an impressive front and rear wheel driving system, which means the buggy can manoeuvre at great speed and with remarkable agility. It also has a very low centre of gravity, so it can be pushed to the limit on hills without flipping over.
