Black smoke rising from the Oakland Hills at 9 40 Tuesday Morning sent an ominous wave of panic. Oakland fire says what ignited the blaze is a gasoline generator hooked up because power was cut off by pg e because of the red flag warning posted for the east bay hills. It was a huge explosion. Its like i hear a neighbor saying its the generator that explode and then we see the fire all over the place and i started to shake and everybody just get panicked and started to run all over the place. Reporter this family lives next door. It was a second explosion and the fire went across the street into the other peoples yard. And the whole house just went up in smoke and flames, and then the cars exploded right after that. At least two cars. The location of the first confirmed case of coronavirus with transmission of, as they said, unknown origin. Today Solano County declared a state of emergency. Officials discussed the case in the last 30 minutes and a cdc doctor was asked about the whistleblower complaint though he didnt get into specifics. There is no indication that any of the evacuees, even when having coronavirus disease, would have crossed paths with this case that were discussing today. Meantime, Laura Anthony in sacramento. Looking at forecast clouds to start out. Partly cloudy throughout the afternoon. Another cool one, mid and upper 50s by noontime. By 4 00 the winds are picking up. A wind advisory in the hills. Along the coast all through the evening. Them it gets quite gusty for everyone. Its going to be a chilly night. Were talking about offshore winds which, of course, are a problem when you havent had rain for an entire month. So what started today near fruitdale and mcarthur will encompass 100 miles over the next three years, a very ambitious project as you can imagine. It was one of the worst of the worst here in oakland. Its new surface represents the start of this citys wave of paving. What a difference a pave makes.
