The state has witnessed a rise in insecurity.
Earlier, Ahmed Gulak, a former adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan was shot dead in the state.
Ahmed Wase, the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee announced the postponement on Sunday.
The committee is commencing public hearing on the constitutional alteration exercise to amend the 1999 constitution.
The statement by Wase reads, “The House of Representatives Special Committee on Constitution Review Zonal Public Hearing scheduled to take place in Owerri Centre (Imo and Abia States) on Tuesday, 1st and Wednesday, 2nd June, 2021 has been suspended until further notice.
