Cheboygan County, Michigan, votes to pursue 2020 election hand-recount

“As commissioners, we have heard from many of our constituents expressing concerns/questions” about the election, said the letter signed by Chairman John Wallace. “We believe we have a responsibility to address these concerns/questions.” Michigan’s election system is overseen by the Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat. Spokeswoman Tracy Wimmer said Benson’s office would review the letter and respond to the commission. Benson has said 250 post-election audits conducted around the state showed the election was “fair, secure and accurate, and that the results reflect the will of Michigan voters.” Also Tuesday, a Republican state representative introduced a bill proposing a statewide audit of the 2020 vote by an outside group. A conservative group on Monday urged the GOP-dominated Michigan Senate to conduct a review.

Defund Bergman group asks campaign donors to rebuke MI Rep for Jan 6 vote

Credit Steve Carmody / Michigan Radio An activist group in Northern Michigan is asking past donors to Republican Congressmen Jack Bergman’s campaign to cut off the money. Bergman was one of more than 100 Republican representatives who voted against certifying the 2020 election results in two states despite no evidence of widespread fraud. The vote was on January 6, the same day a pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol. In the wake of all of that, the “Defund Bergman” group started a month ago. Volunteer Owen Goslin says Bergman’s actions “smeared’ local elections officials who did their jobs right. He hopes Bergman donors will hold him accountable.
