Lagos club owner ordered to provide COVID-19 result in seven days

A club owner, Bruno Owede, who was arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly opening his facility to fun seekers in violation of safety protocols, has been ordered by an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test.
Bruno was given a week to provide the result of the test.
Policemen led by the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had arrested 143 clubbers and alleged strippers at Club Victoria’s on Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island area of the state on Saturday.
The Police on Wednesday arraigned Owede Bruno, the owner of Club Victoria in Lagos.
He appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for flouting COVID-19 rules.
The defendant faces a four-count charge bordering on harmful act and disobedience, disobeying government order concerning COVID-19 and conduct likely to cause breach of the peace.
Bruno, 42, pleaded “not guilty” when the charges were read to him.
The Prosecutor, DSP A. A. Adegoke, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 9.
Adegoke alleged that Bruno flouted COVID-19 rules by organising night Disco, where a large number of people were in attendance.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Owede Bruno, the owner of Club Victoria s for violating the government s COVID-19 safety protocols.
The command announced in a statement on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 that the 42-year-old has been charged at Ebute Metta Magistrate Court on four counts according to the provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
Police spokesperson,
Muyiwa Adejobi, said Bruno was arrested for allegedly encouraging fun seekers and clubbers to patronise his club despite the spike in the recorded cases of COVID-19 and preventive protocols put in place in the state.
He said 143 clubbers and strippers were arrested and 34 cars impounded at the club during a midnight raid by the Police on January 9.
