i suspect before we re done congress will get those records. and phil, this is question i ve asked you before. give us the basics of the personal damage, the political damage that donald trump s fearing if this kind of traunch of documents come out from an accounting firm? brian, it s not just the documents from the accounting if i recall but if those do you means were to come forward because of this judge s ruling that would effectively sort of green light a number of other document requests in other areas. and the president s concerned not only for the political damage. i mean if he s found to have suspect financial activities with foreign countries that would certainly be fodder democrats try to use against him in his re-election campaign. but there could be outright criminality here. that s one of the things that the democrats in congress are trying to get to the bottom of as part of their oversight investigations. they ve been blocked by the white house every time the white ho
democrats have, certainly some democrats have, that legally, you know, they re in all of these fights with the white house over access to information. and they re not getting it! they re getting nothing. they re getting absolutely nothing. and the theory is, with some support in the law, i m not sure it s all that conclusive, that courts will consider an impeachment investigation a greater justification for obtaining documents, for obtaining witnesses than if it is simply an oversight investigation. my own view, frankly, is that if a judge is going to tell an administration official to testify, they re going to tell them whether it s oversight or impeachment. so i don t think the difference is all that great. but, you know, it s an example of the continuing frustration that the democrats have had. and i think really unexpected. when the democrats retook the house, everybody thought, oh, there are going to be all of these big oversight investigations. and the president and his allie
