Howard Stern Voices Support for #FreeBritney Movement

Howard Stern has come out in support of the #FreeBritney movement after watching “Framing Britney Spears,” the New York Times-produced documentary streaming on FX and Hulu.
“I think I’m Free Britney now, I think I’m full on Free Britney,” Stern said on his Sirius/XM radio show, in conversation with co-host Robin Quivers.

Though Stern said he thinks Spears may not be fully capable of taking charge of her finances and other aspects of her life, he did compare her situation to other notable male celebrity examples where there was not any court intervention. He listed Charlie Sheen, Shia LaBeouf, Gary Busey and Kanye West.

In the wake of accusations of sexism and misogyny against Justin Timberlake regarding his treatment of former girlfriend Britney Spears, and the “wardrobe malfunction” with Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl in 2004, he has apologized to both women in an Instagram post.
“I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond,” he wrote. “I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.
