Easter Bunny brings joy to children

The Easter Bunny brought joy and chocolate to children during an egg hunt at the weekend. Families scoured the Bransty estate in Whitehaven in the hope of finding a flyer which could be exchanged for a chocolate egg. The event was organised by Emma Ralls, who has her own wealth management business on the estate, along with her friend, Ruth McDonald. The pair wanted to do something for the community and get children outdoors after lockdown. Emma was joined outside her business on Countess Road by employees, Vicky Barnes and Shenda Whelan, who dressed up as the Easter Bunny and a chick, along with Joan Wadey, who was also dressed as a bunny, while Ruth hid the flyers across the estate.

Hampers for the Whitehaven community

And this year he has seen an increase in people requiring support. “With my colleagues and local shops we have obtained brilliant donations, he said. I have received a monetary donation from Carla Arrighi to get hampers out into the community using her ward grant and was backed by Whitehaven Town Council whose support we really appreciate.” With the help of Franki-Leigh High from Hensingham school, more than 55 hampers were distributed throughout the community. Six children at Overend Children’s home received one as well as 21 young people at the Whitehaven Foyer. Gifts will also be taken to the children’s ward at Whitehaven Hospital. Allan thanked Grace Church, Andrea Broatch, Franki-Leigh High, Sharon Graham from Morrisons and Alison Hogge from Tesco.
