fact check, that cobbler does look good. obama spent those years doing normal reach out politics and made a generational challenge to congressman rush, but it didn t move the democrats in illinois, rush beat obama in a landslide. people concluded obama was quote too minor league, overeducated, arrogant, stiff, and obama didn t take that loss by just running for the same seat again or some other comparable office. he took that loss as a sign to think bigger and run for a more expensive and higher office, the u.s. senate. everybody right now feels cynical about the political process. i think that their leadership seems long on rhetoric but short on substance, politics seems to be more of a business than a mission. there s a sense that power always trumps principal, but i truly believe there s another tradition in this country that says that we re all connected somehow. i m barack obama, i m running for the united states senate and
issue is are they going to vote. the vast majority of these women, of these republican suburban married women, women that are overeducated, women are they going to vote. they re not necessarily going to vote democrat, but are they going to get out and vote. our next guest is a real pro at this, doug pornell advised the dnc in 2016 and knows how these things work. weigh in on what you just heard and particularly the notion that some of the best gap information for democrats is among voters who are more sporadic traditionally? well, you know, there was a lot of talk about the gender gap until polling, and we did see right now there s one poll that shows a 33% advantage for democrats. there s also a gender gap with their candidates. if you look in the house in particular in about 80 of the top pick up opportunities for democrats, they ve got over half of their candidates are women
[laughing]. okay. that s one of the funniest things i have ever seen but it s chilly to see a mob. that s not democracy. that s robotics. yes. what i see, i don t see a political divide. right versus left. what i see is a fear of the general population in facing a small mob of intimidating activists who seek to subvert our institutions. people don t want to be why would at. they see a group coming at them, they freak out. this is an intimidating machine. then you see the media coverage of this. they go, let s look at these activists. young and old and men and women. no, they are not. they are elitist and over-educated, white majority
not now, but later this year when we get to the long-term unemployment, where issues about competitiveness, education, productivity, become absolutely critical, and we are doing very little right now to address long-term unemployment. what we are mainly doing as a country is addressing short-term unemployment through a very active and experimental federal reserve. so there s a lot more that congress can do, but unimport t unfortunately, not likely more to the end of the year. the economy is back and moving in the right direction, but tell that to the overeducated and under employed millennials. 63% of americans polled say most children in the united states won t be better off than their parents. young people aren t getting the right degrees. they re taking on too much debt to get the wrong degrees. this is still a really big problem, because even though you ve now recovered all the jobs lost in the recession, tell that to the class of 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 13.
creating jobs. murder for hire is a great job. i think we should take murder off the table for now, joe. i think the problem is jobs like a barista, there is nothing wrong with them, but they are not intended as a career. they are low skilled jobs meant as a nice, crappy summer job. the problem was a few were overqualified and overeducated and they didn t want to hire you because you wouldn t stick around. what they learned is they are hiring these people with master s degrees who have no real world skills. they are creating a log jam. they are blocking for the other guys that will like doing the job waiting the tables. or at least take the job i remember the lousy summer jobs i had. i had one cutting down trees for the power company in the summer. that s awesome, killing trees for power. i would have loved that job. the lifers said stay in school. i wish i had gone to college. tha>r!c was 20 something years ago. now they are probably all guys with master degrees worrie
