Wind power production outpaced gas plants in Europe for the first time last year as fossil fuel electricity generation plummeted, cutting the region s carbon emissions, data from think-tank Ember showed.
Plans for a second LNG import terminal in Greece are well advanced, with the aim of supplying gas to the wider region. The increased availability of gas in the country, from multiple sources, are making possible the early replacement of coal-fired generation with cleaner burning gas, a motivation which is also driving gas demand and pipeline investment in neighbouring countries.
