everyone, welcome. pete, can you walk us through this lawsuit in maryland and where it stands right now. sure. first off, i m completely outclassed by the other guests it here, but here are the facts. you are never outclassed, pete, ever. the answer to your question is yes. if the trump administration loses here, i m sure they ll try to appeal it as much as they can. here s the maryland state argument. they have this lawsuit against jeff sessions and the government over obamacare. now it s time to substitute somebody else. what they asked the judge to say is rod rosenstein should be subed out for jeff sessions because he now is the acting attorney general, not matt whitaker. they say there are two reasons for this. first of all, they say a federal law which trumps all other lays, says when there s a vacancy in the office of attorney general, the deputy attorney general takes over. the president used a different law that allows him to put someone like whitaker in. the state of mar
right now for open enrollment 2019. they want it to be cut off tomorrow, and then they turn around and run adds saying oh, trust us. we support protecting your health, your kids health, your spouse s health, and it s just absolutely flat out not true. donald trump tweeted about this. he said all republicans support people with preexisting conditions and if they don t, they will after i speak to them. i am in total support. also democrats medicare. i ll keep it healthy and well. republicans will protect people with preexisting conditions. democrats will not. a big part of obamacare was the extending of coverage for preexisting conditions and a number of other things that insurance companies wouldn t do sold privately. a big part of it was the expansion of medicare. again, i don t know medicaid. medicaidmedicaid. yes. i guess republicans are figuring
republican candidates trying to rewrite history and ignoring the last nine years or so of their staunch opposition to obamacare. they re saying they re in favor of protecting people with preexisting conditions. here s the thing. it s not a flip-flop, because those same republicans are supporting lawsuits against obamacare. 20 states with conservative leadership are suing the u.s. government over obamacare. if the law is found to be unconstitutional as they argue, it would likely eliminate the requirement that insurance companies cover people with preexisting conditions. i want you all to think about what life was like before obamacare. for a lot of americans if you had a preexisting condition, it was game over for you. i want to talk now with a woman who helped create the law that protects people with preexisting conditions. she s the former secretary of
future and you re not going to take that away from me. so we re seeing now republicans say oh, i was with you all along. i always supported this. i never was on the side of insurance companies or drug companies. and mitch mcconnell has made it very clear if the republicans stay in control in congress, he intends to come after medicaid which is now the largest insurance program in the country, come after medicare, providing affordable health care to 53 million americans, and certainly they will try once again, according to mitch mcconnell, to dismantle the affordable care act assuming that the lawsuit is not effective. so these guys are just blatantly lying to the american public about what their intentions are. unbelievable. thank you for being with me to speak the truth about it. former health and human services secretary. up next, one of the online targets of the suspected targets
