analyst. ronado marinotti. jessica schneider, cnn justice correspondent, also an attorney. jessica, what can we expect at tuesday s arraignment? ana, it could be a similar media circus-like atmosphere in d.c., the same one like we saw in florida on friday. you know, i ve been to that courthouse numerous times. covered numerous court appearances at the federal courthouse including for paul manafort and rick gates. and there are always this flood of cameras positioned at the front doors so they will be there when roger stone walks in, so it s possible that stone will also talk when he walks in, but it s also possible that potentially stone could be forced to stay silent if he s released after tuesday s court appearance because stone is going to be facing the same judge who has presided over manafort and gates and in those cases, she s instituted gag orders to keep everyone in the case silent. so it s possible roger stone is really going on this pre-court media blitz now to get his
wear street clothes just like he did during the trial. yesterday the judge, the federal judge who presided over manafort s trial who will preside over the hearing ruled, quote, no. they are not entitled to appear in sentencing or any other hearing in street clothing. quote, this defendant should be treated no differently from other defendants. so judge ellis denies paul manafort s request to wear a suit tomorrow. he ll been in his jumpsuit, his green prison jumpsuit. the reason he s going to be in court tomorrow overall is the judge wants to know whether the special counsel s office plans to re-try manafort on the ten felony koupts the jury had deadlocked on in his earlier trial. the judge wants an answer from the prosecutors soon even though the mueller team isn t done getting information out of paul manafort now he has a cooperation deal with them. this week the special counsel s office said in a filing if they do have to make a decision now,
from additional , has been in with them at least nine times in the past four weeks. we may learn more about that today. the other issue on the table is what happens to the ten counts that the jury hung on, and the judge is pressing the prosecutors to decide to drop those charges or say they might retry manafort. prosecutors have initially wanted to leave that on the table so they could use that as leverages over manafort. they acquiesced to the judge, saying they would be okay dropping that as long athey are able to the judge is expected to take it up about 1:30, and then we should learn the sentencing date which could be by the end of the year. thank you very much, kara. we ll touch base once you get more information.
