THE leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council Cllr Mohammed Khan has urged people to keep testing for coronavirus. Rapid tests using lateral flow devices are available from the borough’s two testing hubs: Ewood Park s Darwen End between 8am and 3pm Monday to Friday and King George’s Hall, Blackburn between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday. People do not need to book. Residents can collect rapid test kits from Work at Over Darwen House and King George’s Hall, Blackburn between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday; on Mondays between 10:30am and noon from Little Harwood Community Centre and Accrington Road Community Centre; on Tuesdays between 10:30am and noon from Ivy Street Community Centre, Darwen Valley Community Centre, and Mill Hill Community Centre; and from Greenfields Community Centre Monday to Friday between 9am and 2.30pm.
Youth MPs are reminding people to use the free, regular, rapid ‘Test and Go’ facilities. People are asked to use rapid testing before meeting up with friends, family and visiting the shops, hairdressers or restaurants and pubs. Rapid testing for people without symptoms using lateral flow devices is already available to those leaving home to work or living in the vicinity of any of the council’s rapid testing hubs. Now all borough residents can order online via national delivery service They can pick up kits in person with no appointment needed from the rapid test hubs at King George’s Hall, Ewood Park and Work at Over Darwen House during opening hours. The kits are available from the Old Bank Lane, Blackburn College and Railway Road PCR test sites after 1pm and many local pharmacies.
