time the va did not have the services for obstetrics and gynecology. they are mostly just for gynecological services women need. i was sent outside of the va for health care. i was able to access top-quality care that the va picked the bill up for. it is great to see that veterans are going to be able to access the same services. that being said, this shouldn t be a solution to the problem. there are obvious fixes that need to be made to make sure that veterans can access the va in a timely manner and i think we re going to be i would hope to see that those fixes are being made through a congressional legislation as well as changes in policy within the department of veterans affairs. one of the things about this though that strikes me is, the sort of top-down approach. i m not sure that that s going to work. it seems to me that the problem is really out there it is in the field. in the field. there is actually something that was written today about that actually. sam foote,
guantanamo there s 150 detainees right now and they have a medical unit of 100 medical staff. there are 21 million veterans and of those 21 million veterans in the united states 9 million receive va care. but if you look at the va employees it s 267,000. i think that president obama has a flawed sense of priorities. he s taking better care of guantanamo that our own veterans. he should know. he visited more than 30 times and he went on. how would you rate the detainees? the health care they receive? it s an a plus. i was down there so many times in the medical facility. they don t have a waiting list. they get seen on the same day. it s a shame our veterans aren t getting that same level of care. enough to make your blood boil. terrorists getting better treatment than our vets. only in obama s twisted priority world would something like this happen.
2009. i went over 30 times. the detainee population has come down. the ratio is now 1.5 to 1. if you look at the veterans in this country, there are 21 million veterans. of those, 9 million are receiving va care. if you look at the va employees, it s 267,000. it s a 35 to 1 ratio. president obama has a flawed sense of priorities. we had 40 veterans in the phoenix area alone who died waiting for medical appointments. how would you rate the gitmo detain tees detainees, the care they received? it s a plus one. they don t have any kind of waiting list. they get seen on the same day.
the populations come down 4-1. it s 1.5 detaining, if you look at the veterans, there are 21 million veterans and of those, 9 million are receiving va care. if y employees, it s 267,000. i think president obama has a flawed sense of priorities. he s taking better square of them. we had 40 veterans alone that died waiting for medical appointments and eric, this is outrageous. jd, tell us about going back to gitmo, how would you rate the detained people get. they don t have any kind of waiting list. they get seen on the same day. i think the best testament to it was michael moore, film maker michael moore in his 2007 film
clinicians. this is an important question. this is happening phoenix did not they had a secret list waiting list. i ve interviewed family members that were on that list with a broken back for five months with no care. a broken back. the woman was on this program. we had family members crying saying that the va killed their loved ones on this program. 167 pay outs. the same corrupt fraudulent system is being used in albuquerque, in colorado, in virginia, west virginia, now florida. if any veteran dies under va care it s a tragedy. and it shouldn t happen. and what the va should be doing right now is finding ways to make sure that doesn t happen again. and i believe that they are actually doing that now. i mean we met with some of their administrative leaders today from around the country and they are taking a good hard look at themselves because they have to.
