Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host two drought meetings in August to address ongoing concerns. The first, Aug. 23, is a statewide virtual meeting, followed by an in-person meeting Aug. 24 in Marion County.
KNOXVILLE, Iowa â High grain prices will likely put pressure on hay and forage availability across the upper Midwest this year.
With this in mind, Iowa State University Extension will host a field day June 8 in rural Marion County addressing several alternatives to traditional forage management.
Patrick Wall, beef specialist with ISU Extension and meeting host, said topics will include using goats for weed and brush management, placing alfalfa hay fields in a grazing rotation and utilizing summer annuals in an annual forage plan, according to a news release.
Attendees also will hear from the team at Goats On the Go â County Line, learning how they rotate 200-plus head of goats through the problem areas of the farm.
