Guelph police say gates at a south end construction site were damaged following a break-in overnight on Thursday. Other buildings were broken into but it's unknown what was stolen.

Police say a man's rental car was stolen from a south-end hotel while moving his daughter into the University of Guelph. Two large suitcases full of clothes were also stolen.
A man reportedly used a fake name to try and open an account at a bank in Guelph. Police said the documents were altered. The suspect ultimately told them his real name.
