Last week, several prevention messages have been launched to avoid bodies of water because ice is still too thin to venture out. The City of Sherbrooke is inviting the population, for the time being, to frequent outdoor skating rinks during the holiday season.
With more than 30 rinks and ice rings on its territory, Sherbrooke is able to serve its population, despite the health restrictions in place.
To that end, hockey activities at the Julien-Ducharme center have been withdrawn. “With the recent government standards that allow eight-person teams to play on all rinks, the offer of hockey in arenas has been withdrawn out of fairness to other sports. We believe that all the outdoor rinks will be able to meet the demand,” Councillor Vincent Boutin, Chair of the Sports and Outdoor Committee explained in a press release.
