Story Hour a success

Dear Editor: The Ouray Public Library would like to thank our community, staff, and volunteers for an overwhelmingly successful Drag Queen Story Hour. With the help of our amazing community, we were able to spread literacy, love, and acceptance through library programming with record attendance. It was inspiring and overwhelming to see how much of the community united to ensure the program was a success. Our friendly volunteer support team made sure that all participants were welcomed into the venue with a smile. Our staff stood strong in the face of adversity and did so with class and dignity. Our volunteer reader captivated and delighted participants, regardless of age. We are so appreciative of everyone who contributed to this event. It will continue to be a reminder of how inclusive and welcoming our community can be.

Drag Queen Story Hour draws protesters, supporters

The Ouray Public Library's first Drag Queen Story Hour attracted a record turnout, including supporters and protesters of the storytime. Inside, about 75 attendees watched a man dressed as a sunflower read stories about inclusion and acceptance to children.
