Wildlife Habitat Committee hosts Hamburg Garden Tour

The Hamburg Community Wildlife Habitat Committee of the Our Town Foundation hosts its 9th annual Garden Tour after the pandemic canceled last year’s event. The Garden Tour will be held rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 10 to provide participants with a relaxing outdoor experience. The purpose of the tour is to educate participants about pollinator-friendly and monarch-friendly native plants, replenishing resources for wildlife such as bees, butterflies, birds, and amphibians, and also give participants ideas for their own gardens. Each year tour participants receive a booklet highlighting photos from the previous year’s gardens, informational material, and a map of the tour route.

Hamburg s Our Town Foundation awarded $50K in COVID-19 relief funding

Hamburg s Our Town Foundation was among the 43 community revitalization organizations throughout the state that will receive nearly $2 million under the COVID-19 Relief Supporting Elm and Main program. “I was very thankful when I received the notice that we were approved for funding,” said Deena Kershner, Executive Director of the Our Town Foundation, Hamburg’s non-profit community revitalization corporation. “Funds we are receiving from the SEAM program will assist with paying our ongoing expenses allowing us to continue serving our community and the local businesses.” The goal of SEAM, Gov. Tom Wolf said in the April 13 press release, is to provide financial assistance to organizations dedicated to community and economic development in older and historic downtowns, commercial districts and neighborhoods.
