the kind of hate that he was spewing, in terms of really saying slavery was the last time america was great. how did it make you feel with the personal pain your family has felt as a result of the bombing of your sister and the other three in the 16th street baptist church in 63? i really just felt bad that he thought that way and he had those words to say and then covered it up with christianity. it reminded me very much of what a lot of the christians of what the southern baptist christians back in that time, in the 50s and 60s would sanction that bad behavior, the segregation behavior and cover it up with christianity, because we all know that isn t what our god believes and that isn t what our god is all about. so it was sad to hear him say that. but i was grateful that the people of alabama realize that that is not what god wants. that is not how we should live
to the promise of their son, the lord, our god, who will be with you wherever you go. thank you. thank you. [applause] thank you. thank you. [applause] what a man he was.
[ undulating ] [ all singing ] hosanna! hosanna! hosanna! i m told of a great rabbi, who was asked to recite the torah while standing on one leg. [ laughter ] he said, do not unto others as you would not have them do unto you. this is the true wisdom of the torah. the rest is all commentary. go and learn it. do you, uh, share his belief? i do. say simply, love your neighbor as you love yourself. but i put one commandment even before this. hear, o israel, the lord our god is one. love the lord your god with all your heart, your mind, and your strength. saying this, you are close to the kingdom of god. rabbi. while some oppose you, the wisdom of your words is not lost on us. rabbi, what say you of taxes?
runeth over. and mercy shall follow me through the rest of my life and i shall dwell in the house of the lord forever and may the lord add his blessing to the reading of his holy word. . the word of the lord as we find it in the gospel of math through chapter 5 verses 1 through 10. when jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain and after he sat down, his disciples came to him and he began to speak and taught them saying blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven, blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. blessed are the meek, they will inherit the earth.
and doing all of this. how was it? you have all of these different religions represented. i think nine by my count. somebody told me a dozen, i don t know who was right. i know you were there and i know who s who of other religious leaders were there. how did everyone get along? we got along wonderfully and you know, i m a christian, so, absolutely, i m going to pray in jesus name. my segment was opening prayer so i didn t get to say amen in jesus name, many pastors and leaders did, but the other faiths as well. i m so remindful that abraham had two sons, ishmael and isaac and they both want today serve their father s god, but because they got into strive they kind of departed from each other, i believe they ll come back and love each other one day soon. so it did not bother me that people of different faiths were here. if we can model jesus christ in a loving way that s attractive, i think more people might love jesus. i don t know, you can t answer
