An Ankeny teen is one of two young women taking their places in Iowa history as the first female Eagle Scouts in central Iowa.
Angelina Hemphill, 16, of Ankeny Troop 188 was recognized this week by the Mid-Iowa Council, Boy Scouts of America along with Hannah Massey, 15, of Ottumwa Troop 219 as the council s first two female Eagle Scouts. © Mid-Iowa Council, Special to the Register Angelina Hemphill of Ankeny Troop 188 is one of two girls in central Iowa to have earned the Eagle Scout rank. Currently there are only 1,000 girls nationwide who have earned this rank.
