Master Gardener: Community gardens have long history
Viola Purdy
The Sandusky and Ottawa County Master Gardener volunteers have partnered with the Sandusky County commissioners to provide a place to garden.
We have developed the Countryside Drive Community Garden at 2000 Countryside Drive. There are 12 raised beds and 23 raised garden rows. Many of the rows will be donated to area food banks and be maintained by Master Gardener volunteers.
What are community gardens?
Community gardens are managed open spaces that can be planted by people who do not have access to their own land, giving them the opportunity to grow their own nutritious food, herbs or flowers at a low cost.
