Otsego County Seniors Vaccinated in Cooperstown
Vaccines were given to Otsego County residents age 65 and older in Cooperstown on Saturday.

Basset Healthcare Network partnered with the Otsego County Department of Public Health this weekend to set up a vaccination clinic at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown.
The vaccinations were available to Otsego County residents age 65 and older. The shots were distributed today and will also be distributed tomorrow. The clinic reached senior citizens who may not have been able to obtain an appointment online at any of the various state run sites.

The good news is that the Hall of Fame will host an induction ceremony in 2021. The bad news is that it won’t be open to the public, and that just about everything else in connection with the Hall’s annual festivities has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic for the second year in a row. The institution announced as much in a press release on Friday:
“Though we are having to cancel our 2021 Hall of Fame Classic Weekend, the Hall of Fame is maintaining its commitment to hold an Induction Ceremony on July 25,” said Jane Forbes Clark, Chairman of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. “We had hoped to be in a position to welcome loyal baseball fans back to Cooperstown for Induction Weekend, but with the continuing uncertainties created by COVID-19, the Board of Directors has decided not to hold Induction Weekend ceremonies at the traditional Clark Sports Center location. Otsego County officials have reported another COVID-19 death. There have now been 12 deaths from the disease in the county.
According to the Otsego County Department of Public Health web page, there were 16 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday. There are 122 active cases in the county, with15 people hospitalized. There have been 1,781 cases recorded since tracking began.
Milford Central School District students will continue virtual learning for at least two weeks upon their return from winter break.
In a Wednesday, Dec. 23, Facebook post, district Superintendent Mark Place said the decision was made in light of the record number of new COVID-19 cases in the area and the district s success in implementing remote learning since the return from Thanksgiving break.
