Egyptian Navy takes delivery of 1st locally built warship January 8, 2021, by Naida Hakirevic
The Egyptian Navy has taken delivery of the corvette Port Said (ENS 976) the first warship 100% built in Egypt.
Port Said is the second Gowind 2500 corvette ordered by the Egyptian Navy and built at Alexandria Shipyard under a transfer of technology agreement with French defense contractor Naval Group.

The handover and flag-raising ceremony took place at Alexandria Shipyard in Alexandria on 6 January 2021.
The ship will be carrying out combat and other missions as part of the Egyptian Navy fleet.
Launched in 2018, Port Said is the second Gowind 2500 corvette ordered by the navy.
