Malvern College opens 7th international school

A COLLEGE in the county has opened its seventh international campus. Malvern College Switzerland will offer a bespoke international curriculum for an initial cohort of students due to arrive at the school from September 2021.   Keith Metcalfe, headmaster of Malvern College, UK, said: This is a very exciting development for the Malvern family of schools, and we look forward very much to welcoming our first pupils to Leysin in a few months’ time.” Entry will be into either Year 10 or Year 12, with additional options for students looking for a pre-IGCSE course in Year 9 or a University Preparation course in Year 13. Based in Leysin, in the Swiss Alps, the school will have on-site facilities, including a 200-seat auditorium, as well as making the most of the sporting facilities in and around the local area.

Residents have long been complaining about the traffic chaos in Upper Brook Street and the junction of Broomhall Lane and Trefonen Road, outside Oswestry School. They want to see double yellow lines on the road to stop the parking. Their complaints and fears over safety were taken up by Councillors Paul Milner and Joyce Barrow. Now Shropshire Council s assistant director of infrastructure, Steve Smith, has revealed that the council is to look at parking restrictions. Mr Smith said As you might expect, unfortunately, we cannot simply paint double yellow lines in a location without going through the required legal consultation processes.
