Oregon State University-Cascades may be on course to fixing at least one of the gastrointestinal tract problems in dogs. The solution, they say, lies in the gut of wolves.
A company with Oregon State University ties has advanced to the final eight of a lucrative competition to desalinate water using solar power.
Espiku, with scientists and researchers at the Corvallis campus and at the Cascades campus in Bend, received $250,000 in cash and a $100,000 voucher to continue its work.
Advancing to the next round would yield $750,000 and another $100K voucher, with the ultimate winner taking home $1 million.
In an announcement sure to be welcomed by travelers worldwide, EU officials on Monday proposed easing restrictions on visiting the 27-nation bloc as vaccination campaigns across the continent gather speed. Travel to the European Union is currently extremely limited except for a handful of countries with low infection rates. But with the summer tourist season looming, the bloc s European Commission hopes the new recommendations will dramatically expand that list.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State University’s Board of Trustees has confirmed the university’s new interim president.
Becky Johnson, confirmed Friday, is currently the vice president of OSU Cascades - the university’s Bend campus, Oregon Public Broadcasting reported.
She will resign from that position to step into her role leading the entire university.

Board Chair Rani Borkar said Friday the choice to put Dr. Johnson forward was informed by extensive community engagement.
Johnson was nominated through a two-week process in which the board solicited input from the OSU faculty, students and staff, as well as outside stakeholders and community members. She will be the university’s first female president.
