Restructuring: Nigeria’s hard road to travel The Punch

In Punchwise two Sundays ago, I commented on a proposal for splitting Nigeria recently put forth by some eminent Nigerians. In essence, I argued that balkanisation Nigeria is not necessarily a solution to the escalating violence and that a section of the country is certain to resist the proposed change. Reader Oparafo Ugakwu a learned fellow judging by the missing details he filled in commented that I “don’t seem to support any type of restructuring.” Actually, I do. It is radical restructuring breakup, if the proponents are frank that I am uneasy about.

In any case, so much has happened in the intervening two weeks that I am beginning to fear that it may be too late for proposals, punditry and even legislation.
