Oshkosh Farmer s Market to host free COVID-19 vaccine clinic Saturday

View Comments There will be a free COVID-19 vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday for visitors to the Oshkosh Farmer s Market.  The clinic, held at the Time Community Theater at 445 N. Main St. in Oshkosh, is a partnership between the Winnebago County Health Department and the Oshkosh Area School District.  Appointments for the clinic are not required, and shots will be available to people 12 and older. Clinic staff will administer the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, according to a Wednesday press release from the county health department. (Only the Pfizer vaccine is currently approved for youth under 18.)  If you need help getting to the clinic, call Make the Ride Happen at 920-225-1719 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to schedule a ride.

Oshkosh school board election: Beth Wyman, Chris Wright, Kristopher Karns

OSHKOSH – Voters elected three new candidates to the Oshkosh Area School Board. According to unofficial results, newcomers Kristopher Karns, Chris Wright and Beth Wyman will join the school board after the April 6 general election. Karns received 17.9% of the total vote, Wright got 21.4% and Wyman had 28.2%. Vote tallies remain unofficial until elections officials verify them in the coming days. Incumbent Jim Evans and Robert Rigoni Jr. were not elected to the board. Incumbents Allison Garner and Kelly Olmsted did not seek reelection. Here s more about the three candidates who were elected to the board: Kristopher Karns, 39, a lifelong Oshkosh resident, works as an office manager and earned a bachelor s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He has children in third and sixth grades and has coached multiple sports and serves on the Oshkosh United Soccer Club board.

The Oshkosh Area School Distract hosted a meeting Thursday night with families. It’s a rare site during the pandemic. An in-person meeting for parents to ask questions…. “What are you doing now to get the kids in the classroom. What are you doing now?” And Oshkosh administrators to respond…. “In the process right now of reexamining that process right now,” said Superintendent Vickie Cartwright. Oshkosh schools have transitioned from hybrid to virtual learning models. On Nov. 3 families were told they would return to a hybrid model. Then, on Nov. 9, were told they would remain virtual until Jan.11.
