ROYAL CITY – A fast start allowed the No. 1 seed Royal Knights to take a 28-0 lead by the end of the first quarter Friday night against No. 9 Omak, advancing to the 1A State Football Tournament semifinals with a 49-0 win over the Pioneers.
Royal scored all 49 of its points in the first half, with many of its drives beginning with short field courtesy of strong defensive play.
ROYAL CITY – The Knights were crowned league champions for the 10th-straight season with Thursday night’s 49-7 win over Connell, gaining nearly 400 yards of offense in the win.
Thursday night was the seventh time the Knights have held an opponent to seven or fewer points this season.
ROYAL CITY On the second play of the Homecoming game against Kiona-Benton Friday, Royal quarterback Lance Allred took the snap, faked a handoff and flipped the ball to receiver Cade Allred. Cade Allred threw 36 yards to receiver Case Christensen for the touchdown. The Knights scored 35 points in the first quarter en route to a 55-0 win over Ki-Be.
Lance Allred said after the game the key to a good performance is preparation.
“(Watching) film,” he said. “Just seeing what we have, what they don’t – trying to find where we can penetrate, so we just hit that. We execute it every day in practice. It plays out on the field.”
Santa Monica City Council members unanimously voted to extend the local emergency order on homelessness to May 31, 2024, at a regular meeting this Tuesday, May 9. The Council’s action followed a comprehensive report presented by City staff delivering the results of the 2023 Homeless Count in January.
