JAIALAI, Live on the Plaza

JAIALAI, Live on the Plaza Mar 26, 2021 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM February 25, 2021 JAIALAI Join us in celebrating the release of Jaialai’s new EP, As Sweet As I Was. Since 2016, Jaialai has performed some of Miami’s most memorable shows with its psychedelic blend of krautrock, shoegaze and garage rock. Featuring members from Venezuela, El Salvador and of Cuban heritage, this four-piece band comprises Jose “Jovi” Adames (guitar/vocals), Richard Boullon (drums/percussion), Mario Lemus (bass) and Oscar Sardiñas (guitar/vocals). There’s a sense of urgency in Jaialai’s music, a modern take on shoegaze and psychedelia but also the first-generation immigrant experience. Themes of freedom, intensity, anxiety and pressure are evident in their music. Their musical influences can be attributed to bands like The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Deerhunter and Can.

New after-school enrichment classes coming to Key Biscayne

On January 25, Key Biscayne children from PreK to 5th grade will have the opportunity to engage in many different after school activities and classes thanks to the The Key Biscayne Children & Education Foundation (KBCEF). The non-profit foundation is the brainchild of Oscar Sardiñas and two other KB parents, Ivette Fernandez-Chaustre and Pierre De Agostini. It is a parent volunteer organization whose main goal is to fund educational initiatives for an after-school enrichment program for students to learn, explore and develop new interests and skills outside of the classroom. “I saw classrooms with so many students and only one teacher,” said Sardiñas. “A teacher s aide was not always available due to lack of funding, and I wanted to do something about that.”
