Extended + Brad Walker Debut Concert Film at NOJM

Brad Walker and Extended announce the release of their debut concert film, recorded at Esplanade Studios in January 2021. The film is the culmination of an ongoing collaboration between two of the most compelling forces on the New Orleans creative music scene: Walker, with a decade of award-nominated and nationally reviewed records, and Extended, which features three of the leading lights of the jazz scene in New Orleans: Oscar Rossignoli (piano), Matt Booth (bass), and Brad Webb (drums). This project is the result of their extensive work together during the Covid-19 shutdown, the culmination of which is this brand-new set of unique, compelling original music, developed in isolation during some of the darkest months of the pandemic.

The Show Must (Not) Go On - My New Orleans

My New Orleans New Orleans’ Busiest Musical Ambassadors Find Frustration, Inspiration During Pandemic Year 04/01/2021 Arriona “Tank” Ball  After a lavish musical introduction by her backing band, Tarriona “Tank” Ball – lead singer of Tank and the Bangas – playfully danced onto the stage to perform her song “Spaceships” to a rocking crowd. Or perhaps it’s more accurate to say the fans were mildly heaving, swaying, rolling, pitching and/or “yawing,” since they were perched on the deck of a giant cruise ship. The date was Jan. 9, 2020. The setting was a performance on an ocean liner hosting the 18th edition of Jam Cruise, a floating musical festival that features fleet-fingered talent from all over the world – often with plenty of New Orleanians represented.

Joe Dyson, Look Within (Album Review) - OffBeat Magazine

OffBeat Magazine New Orleans and world audiences have been listening to and watching the remarkable rise of drummer Joe Dyson for almost three decades. At age two, he began playing in church, an element that remains in his often emotional approach to music. He received greater visibility and instruction under the wing of master saxophonist Donald Harrison Jr., and Dyson has been heard regularly and recorded with the legendary organist Dr. Lonnie Smith and trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah. Look Within stands as Dyson’s debut release under his own name and reveals his huge talents as a composer. While many tunes feature ensemble work with his strong band, pianist Oscar Rossignoli, saxophonist Stephen Gladney, trumpeter Stephen Lands, bassist Jasen Weaver and percussionist Daniel Sadownick, it is not difficult to grasp that the brilliant Dyson is at the helm.
