Helston power cut affects 700 homes: Western Power estimate

It is affected a number of postcodes, including in the Water-ma-Trout area of the town. People in Osborne Parc and Church Street also spoke about issue with power loss, with many other areas experiencing flashing lights. The problem was first reported at 7.49pm. Western Power Distribution said that a total of 722 homes were affected, adding that it hoped to have the electricity back on by 9.30pm. It later gave an update to say that only 168 properties remained without power but it could take until 11pm to restore it. The company said: We are aware of this power cut incident which was raised at 7.49pm this evening and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible.
