ASIP and APACT have partnered to establish a hi-tech semiconductor assembling and testing facility in Hyderabad, aiming to contribute to India s semiconductor manufacturing growth. They have also signed an MoU with IIT Hyderabad for R&D collaboration in the OSAT industry.
The HCL-Foxconn joint venture is in “advanced-level talks” with Tamil Nadu and Telangana to set up its recently announced semiconductor assembly and testing unit, people in the know of the development told ET. Though Karnataka was also in the running, these people said the JV is likely to prefer Tamil Nadu or Telangana for setting up the unit, “attracted by better incentive structures” offered by them.
Some industry executives, however, said Tamil Nadu could end up bagging the project as Foxconn has “ample presence” in the state. Foxconn makes iPhones for Apple at its facility in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.
Semiconductor Assembly Business: Mumbai-based CG Power and Industrial Solutions, which was acquired by Tube Investments in 2020, has filed an application to set up an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test facility (OSAT) in India with an investment of about USD 791 million (INR 6,600 crore). spread over five years, the company said on Wednesday.
