Prosecutors on Dec. 2 again searched the home of Hidetoshi Tanaka, the former Nihon University board chairman, but this time with the help of tax authorities.
Tokyo prosecutors on Nov. 29 arrested Nihon University’s board chairman, Hidetoshi Tanaka, on suspicion of tax evasion concerning more than 100 million yen ($881,000) apparently provided by a pair of breach of trust suspects.
The Nihon University money scandal has taken another turn, this time involving cash transfers related to a contract to deliver medical equipment to the school’s hospital, investigative sources said.
The former head of a medical corporation at the center of a breach of trust case involving reconstruction of a hospital affiliated with Tokyo s Nihon University told investigators he gave 60 million yen ($530,000) to the chairman of the university s board of directors.
