And thank you. Thank you for this exceptional recognition, and i cant tell you how much it means to me. Thank you, chairman mckee, and thanks to all of you parents who have been through so much to see your sons and daughters here today. Thanks to the distinguished guests, faculty, administrators and family. Most of all, thanks to you, the students. Its an honor, and it is a privilege to be addressing the Vaughn College class of 2016. Now, i know the road to get here probably wasnt easy. Many of you, im told, are part of the first generation of your family to go to college and to reach this milestone. I know what it feels like. That was my story as well. Endless wall along our borders and blame our challenges on immigrants, that does not just run counter to our history as the world melting pot. It contradicts the evidence that our growth and our innovation and our dynamism has always been spurred by our ability to attract strivers from every corner of the globe. That is how we became america. Why would we want to stop it now . [applause] president obama cant do it. Which brings me to my third point. Facts, evidence, reason, logic, an understanding of science these are good things. These are qualities you want in people making policy. These are qualities you want to continue to cultivate in yourselves as citizens. [applause] president obama that might seem obvious. We traditionally have valued those things, but if you were listening to todays political debate, you might wonder where this strain of antiintellectualism came from. [laughter] [applause] president

But my parents were big, big believers in the power of education. They instilled that belief into their children, my Three Sisters and myself. They taught us that learning equals opportunity. There was never a question in their mind as to whether we were going to go to college. We would and we did. What i remember the most clearly from my Graduation Day was the look on my parents faces. They were so proud and a bit relieved that they could call me a college graduate. They were thrilled about what that accomplishment meant for future generations of our family. I see that same look on the faces of many parents, many siblings and you, the graduates. I know that getting here required hard work an
Some of the german American Children to attempt, they dont want any money but they would like an apology for what happened to their parents. I think the likelihood of that happening is very low but they are trying to do that. Yes, sir. My question is who profited from the construction of the camp . Was their money involved . Competitive bids and all that sort of thing . It was a camp and owned by the federal government as a place for Migrant Workers to come. It was already in the government control. I dont think there was a lot of money. I went through lots and lots of records on how much it cost to do the Swimming Pool but it was just local people so i dont think in this camp there was a tremendous amount of financial profit. There was a lot of political profit but not financial that i know of. Thank you very much. I would like to close with one thing, though witness situation.
