The Orono Public Library has opened its doors to the public for the first time since March of last year. “The staff is very excited, we’ve been buzzing around getting the place ready,” said Laurie Carpenter, Orono Public Library director. The Orono Public Library is now open for browsing Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. ”We’ve been waiting for over a year now to get back in the library,” said Eric Dasilva.

Bangor, Maine News Update: May 14, 2021 The Maine CDC reports 296 new cases of COVID-19 statewide. So far, 1,285,764 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered. Governor Janet Mills will lift capacity restrictions for indoor and outdoor gatherings, effective May 24th, as well as physical distancing guidelines, except in indoor settings like restaurants and bars that require face coverings to be removed. The mask directive for indoor public spaces will remain in place. Mills says the large percentage of adults who have been vaccinated prompted the acceleration of the Moving Maine Forward plan.
