A section of about 10 km was finished as part of the block completion. Currently, work on this system has been undertaken for a longer stretch, covering 54.35 km from Lonavala to Khadki.
The Railway Board has decided to modify the Indian Railway Financial Code so that signalling-related projects do not need to be financially remunerative.
The Railways has ordered a countrywide safety drive on signalling systems with special emphasis on the existing “double locking” arrangement of its signalling apparatus at stations.
The FIR has been registered under IPC Sections 337/338 (endangering life or personal safety of others), 304A (causing death by negligence) and 34 (common intention), and Section 153/154/175 (endangering safety) of Railway Act.
